Admission Process
Our admission procedure is simple, transparent and child-friendly.
Step 1 – Registration
The admission process begins with registration.
Parents are required to submit the completed Registration Form along with the prescribed registration fee.
Please note that registration does NOT guarantee admission. It enables the child to proceed to the subsequent stages of the admission process.
Step 2 – Age Eligibility
Admissions are granted according to the age norms prescribed by the Government of Maharashtra.
The child’s age is calculated as on 1st June of the academic year.

Admissions to higher grades follow the corresponding age progression prescribed by the Government.
Step 3 – Entrance Assessment
To understand every child’s learning readiness and developmental stage, applicants participate in an age-appropriate assessment designed in accordance with NEP 2020 and CISCE expectations.
Nursery to Grade 2
- Play-based interaction
- Observation of developmental readiness
- Informal learning activities
Grades 3 to 9
- Written assessment
- Skill-based evaluation
- Academic readiness assessment
These assessments are intended to understand each child’s strengths, learning style and readiness. They are not designed to create unnecessary pressure on children.
Step 4 – Personal Interaction
Shortlisted students are invited for a personal interaction with the Admission Selection Committee.
Parents may also be invited for an interaction to help build a shared understanding of:

- Learning expectations
- Student support systems
- Parent-school partnership

Step 5 – Inclusive Education

Students with special educational needs may be considered for admission based on:
- Submission of authentic medical and psychological reports
- Review by the School’s Inclusion Team
- An individual assessment to understand the child’s learning requirements and identify suitable classroom accommodations

Step 6 – Confirmation of Admission
Admission is confirmed after:
- Successful completion of the admission assessment
- Personal interaction (where applicable)
- Verification and submission of all required documents
- Payment of the admission and school fees within the stipulated timeline
Only after completion of these formalities is the admission considered confirmed.
Step 7 – Parent & Student Orientation
Before the academic session begins, all newly admitted students and parents participate in the Orientation Programme.
The orientation familiarises families with:
- School culture and values
- ICSE curriculum
- Academic systems
- School policies
- Communication channels
- Expectations from students and parents
The programme ensures a smooth and confident transition into the SFS School of Excellence community.
Documents Required
Parents may be required to submit the following documents during the admission process:
- Birth Certificate
- Passport-size photographs
- Previous school’s Report Card (where applicable)
- Transfer Certificate (for applicable classes)
- Aadhaar Card or other valid identity documents
- Medical records, if applicable
- Medical and psychological reports for students seeking support under Inclusive Education
Additional documents may be requested by the Admissions Office whenever necessary.
